6 Squadron is one of two Typhoon squadrons based at RAF Leuchars tasked to provide crews and aircraft at 10 minutes readiness, 365 days a year, to police the UK's Airspace. Here, one of the squadron's "Q Birds" returns to base after a live QRA scramble, armed with 4x AIM-132 ASRAAM and 4x AIM-120 AMRAAM, as well as its internally-mounted 27mm Mauser cannon.
