This aircraft was shot down by a Messerschmitt Bf-110 on August 31st 1940 and crashed on Essex mudflats near Walton-on-the-Naze. The pilot, Gerard Maffett escaped the aircraft but did not survive. The aircraft was recovered in 1973 and is poignantly displayed, preserved but unrestored in the magnificent RAF Museum
