Developed from the Lorraine-Hanriot LH.10, the Hanriot H.16 was a trainer with a 120-hp Renault 4P engine of which 44 examples were built for the French air force in 1934. Of these, the final 29 were completed to H.16/1 or H.161 standard, supposedly as observation aircraft. By 1937 they were given to the Aviation Populaire flying clubs.
