The USMC tested 5 YRON-1 one person helicopters for possible use as reconnaissance platforms as well as for airdropping them to downed pilots in enemy territory. It was not accepted for use as it was too heavy and somewhat difficult to fly. It did, however, go on to serve as the basis for the Gyrodyne QH-50 DASH ASW drone which was in operational service aboard USN ships for many years. 4013 is normally in storage at the museum, but occasionally is on display for various events.
