A Convair 340 bought new by Napier in 1954 for use as an engine test bed for their Eland turboprop engines and registered G-ANVP. Here, despite being registered to Turboprop Conversions Inc., it somehow got mixed up in the Canadair CL-66 program where they were installing Eland turbos in 440 airframes and also calling it the Convair 540. Just to confuse things, airframe c/n 445 was registered N440EL with an almost identical livery. This one was converted to 440 in 1963 and ended up with Salair as N358SA in 1988; getting wrecked at Spokane (KGEG) on 5 January 1996 when it ran out of fuel.
