Former Aerospatiale test registration F-WTNH was accepted by the Ejercito del Aire on 30 July 1973 as a SA330C with serial Z.19-1/EC-STH. It was assigned to 803 Esc and reregistered as HT.19-1/402-01 with 402 Esc on 31 July 1978. The helicopter was upgraded to SA330L by the mid-80s and continued to fly with 402 Esc as 402-50. Unfortunately, the Puma suffered an engine failure and crashed on 2 March 1989 on an empty school playing field in Madrid, killing three crew.
