This SP-2E was assigned to the Naval Air Reserve Training Unit at NAS New Orleans, LA. In 1967 US Naval Reserve squadrons weren't assigned a/c, instead being provided a/c as needed from the NARTU at the base. In 1967 there were two VP squadrons at NAS New Orleans, VP 821 and VP 822. The 1970 reorganization of reserve squadrons resulted in VP-821 & 822 being disbanded and VP-94 established to replace them. VP-94 was assigned its own P-2 a/c and was organized the same as an active duty squadron. This photo is copyright © Bob Thomas, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
