The extraordinary Twin Mustang was designed as a very long range escort fighter but was too late for WWII service and was rendered obsolete by the advent of the F-84 Thunderjet, although it did play a part in the initial stages of the Korean War. Early versions could be flown from either side but late models from the left only, with radar operator in the right.
