Cudal is a small town of less than 400 people. It was the base for Hazelton's air charter business and then its airline. Many passengers came from the rural city of Orange, 30km away. Its own airport was closer but more prone to winter weather problems because of its elevation. Since Hazelton closed Cudal airport has become a store for farm machinery. VH-WPI was sold in Papua New Guinea as P2-VAD in June 1996. This photo is copyright © David Carter, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
