The Scorpion is painted in red Artic markings to represent a 449th FIS aircraft based at Ladd AFB, Fairbanks, AS during the late 1950s. It is in reality 52-1911, a Maine ANG aircraft, and was the last ever F-89 with an operational unit. Note also the Allison J35-A-35A turbojet engine alongside. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
