This Swiss-built Porter was delivered to the Swiss air force as V-611 in 1962. After an engine malfunction at the Tschierva Glacier in 1963 it was disassembled, but a helicopter dropped its wing in a crevice. The glacier released it in 2015! Through Foshing Airlines in Taiwan, the rebuilt aircraft was delivered to Air America in 1966, fitted with a Garrett turboprop. It is seen near the LS-36 airstrip at Na Khang in Laos. It crashed in 1973. Photo by: Ernest Kuhn / University of Wisconsin-Madison This photo was added on 14 January 2022, and has since been viewed 5738 times. |
