This early F/A-18A was ordered in Fical Year 1980 as delivered as Block 6 to the US Navy. The single seater stored to serve Fleet Replacement Squadron VFA-125 from NAS Lemoore (CA) from mid-1982 onwards. The Hornet transferred to the Blue Angels early 1989. It proudly served the US Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron up to 1991. It was transferred to the NASA in February 1991 as N817NA. It was later reregistred to N843NA where it replaced 161250/N843NA. The latter was dumped at China Lake in 1991. N843NA is still active from NASA Armstrong / Edwards AFB (CA).
