In 1938 this G-22 was shipped to Europe for an aerobactic demonstration tour, during which the famous German WWI ace Ernst Udet became only the sceond person ever to fly the Gulfhawk II when he piloted it over Germany. In exchange, the usual pilot, Major Al. Williams became the first American to fly the Bf-109. The G-22 is now on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
