This F-4E was assigned to the Thunderbirds from 1969 through 1973. In 1970 it was #7, the narrators a/c. The #7 F-4E was also the spare aircraft for airshow performances in case one of the six show birds had a mechanical issue. 66-0286 was the third F-4E built and after the Thunderbirds was assigned to the USAF Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB, CA. It is currently on display as a veterans memorial in Battle Mountain, Nevada. This photo is copyright © Bob Thomas, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
