Lt. Alexandru 'Alex' Papană of Romania was the world acrobatic champion. He flew his spectacular aerial acrobatics in this plane as part of the 1938 Pacific International Air Races, which were held at Oakland Airport 28-30 May 1938. The aircraft was transported to the USA on board the "Hindenburg" in August 1936. This photo is copyright © William T.
