Built for the US Army in 1957 as 56-4427. Transferred to US Forest Service in 1974. Specially equipped as a fire bomber, with a tank which can be seen between the float struts. Docked at its home at Shagawa Lake, the US Forest Service's only seaplane base. From here it operates on a range of support duties across Superior National Forest, attacking wildfires during the fire season. Registration change to N193Z was applied later in 2003.
