Built in 1954 for the US Army as 53-3714. Joined the Civil Air Patrol in 1955 as N5221G, based in Honolulu, Hawaii. Transferred to private use at Anchorage, Alaska in 1978. Subject of an accident report as recently as 22 June 2018: the aircraft sustained substantial damage due to a lose of directional control while landing in gusty tailwind conditions on a remote river NW of Dillingham, AK, impacting the bank and striking trees.
