This venerable old Avenger was delivered to the Navy in Nov. 42 and served in the Pacific on board USS Enterprise, USS Saratoga and with VF-12 on Guadalcanal. She was SOC in July 1945 and became a Hollywood film prop before being acquired by Yanks in 1980. She is now undergoing restoration, part of which included removing lots of Japanese 27 mm bullets from her tail!. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
