From 1990, 35 Super Etendards underwent an upgrade programme and were subsequently named SEM (Super Etendard Modernisé). These planes received a Damocles Laser designation nacelle, an automatic resetting GPS and FLIR that gave the capability to precision bomb moving targets. In March 2016, a SEM aircraft undertook its final launch from the carrier 'Charles de Gaulle' ahead of its final withdrawal from service in July. The type has since been replaced in service by the Rafale M. This SEM flew from Landivisiau to LBG for introduction into the museum in June 2010. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
