This Glider was destroyed in flight by what was later established by aircraft accident investigators to have been the most powerful recorded lighting strike to have hit an aircraft in the UK. (1999-04-17). The pilot and passenger (on an air experience birthday gift flight) both successfully parachuted to safety near Leighton Buzzard.
