First flown in 1915, the Vickers ES.1 fighter evolved from the Barnwell Bullet, an unauthorized design by Vickers test pilot Harold Barnwell. The type was pretty fast but difficult to fly, with a poor view for the pilot. Of six machines built, RFC serial 7760 was the final example. It was allocated to No 50 (Home Defence) Squadron in Kent in June 1916. Misidentified as a Vickers FB.14 in Canadian archive.
