The one and only Canadair C-5, like most Canadian built DC-4, was pressurised but uniquely powered by Pratt and Whitney R-2800 radials engines as used on the DC-6. The RR Merlin engines of all other Canadair-built DC-4s resulted in very high cabin noise and the C-5 was always intended as a VIP aircraft. It remained in service until 1966 and was then sold in the US as N17599. Scrapped soon after. Photo from: Library and Archives Canada
