This first Concorde prtotype was built by Aérospatiale at Toulouse and made the inaugural test flight from Toulouse on 2nd March 1969. It first went supersonic on 1st October of that year and went on to fly with Aérospatiale until October 1973 when it was retired to this super museum for display. The small sticker between the forward door and windshield signifes that this plane was modified with rooftop portholes for use on the 1973 Solar Eclipse mission and equipped with observation instruments. It performed the longest observation of a solar eclipse to date, about 74 minutes. This photo is copyright © Alastair T. Gardiner, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
