The Aeronautica Militare operated some 100 P-47s between December 1950 and March 1954. This example was built as 44-89746 and delivered to the Italians in March 1951. After being SOC it was used for ground instruction at Pisa University Engineering School from 1953-1973. It was then placed on display at Vigna di Valle but is currently undergoing long term restoration at Volandia. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
