This was the fourth F-100C built and it spent most of its active life being used for testing. It was designated a JF-100C on 28 November 1955. It was assigned to the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) from September 1956 through March 1957. While assigned to NACA it was flown ten times by Neil Armstrong. It was on display at Lackland AFB from 1971-1986, and is currently on display at Grissom AFB in Peru, Indiana.
