The one and only Vanessa. Initially underpowered, the Lynx radial was swapped for a Whirlwind radial. The RCAF undertook a series of air mail trials with it but a float strut failed on take-off on September 9, 1927. The Vanessa tipped on its side and the propeller hacked a float in two, causing the aircraft to sink. It was salvaged but not repaired.
