This SCAN 30 was a licence-built G-44A Widgeon constructed in France post-WWII. Later converted to Pace Gannet standard, re-engined with Lycoming R-680 radials. After having a number of US owners, ferried to Zaire in 1969. Abandoned at Kinshasa, Zaire by 1976. Seen here departing on the Prestwick-Iceland leg of a difficult recovery flight to the USA, plagued by earlier engine problems across Africa, including a forced landing. Arrived safely at Sussex, NJ for a full restoration.
