Like the rather fatter Blériot 110, F-ALCC, the Bernard 80 GR was built in response to a French air ministry requirement for a GR (Grand Raid, long-distance flight) aircraft that could fly 10,000 km (6,215 miles). Called L'Oiseau Tango, the orange aircraft made a world record closed-circuit flight of 8,960 km in March 1931. Here it is modified to Bernard 81 GR standard with greater wingspan and a four-bladed propeller among other changes. As such it failed to break any world records.
