42-6344 was declared war weary after eight months based in India and returned to the US where it was scrapped in 1949. Location is given as an airfield in China. The USAAF B-29s based in India used forward bases in China to strike Japan. For the 40th Bomb Group which received this aircraft the forward base in China was today's Xinjin airport. The lack of unit markings may signify it was not on a mission when the photo was taken and may be on its delivery flight to India in April 1944.
