The second prototype of the XB-42 Mixmaster experimental bomber, seen just before Henry Warden and Glen Edwards flew it from Long Beach to Washington, DC, in just five hours and 17 minutes, averaging 698 km/h (434 mph). The aircraft crashed at Oxon Hill, Maryland, on a flight out of Bolling Field one week later.
