Negative from FNG archive. On 18 September 1968 1.FC Nürnberg was hosting Ajax Amsterdam in the first round of the European Cup of the National Champions. An early lead by Nürnberg was compensated late in the 80th minute by the legendary Johan Cruyff thus ending the match in a draw. A large followership of Dutch fans was attending bringing the then small airport above its limits. PSP steel matting had been laid out on the northern side to enable aircraft to be parked on the grass which must have been a very unusual sight even then.
