On the static of Paris Le Bourget 1989, manufacturer Sukhoi brought this Su-25 to the sales show with the hope for international orders. The type made its first flight in 1975 and currently over 1,000 Su-25s were built and delivered to over twenty air forces. This one is a test and development prototype with the manufacturer's designation T8-15 and the code 15 blue. It was used for the testing of the new R195 engine. However, for the Paris Air Show this was replaced by a standard R95Sh engine because the R195 was still secret, and the code was changed to 301 blue which actually was the Le Bourget exhibit code. In 1990 it was converted to a Su-25BM prototype (Sukhoi designation (T8BM-2). This photo is copyright © Stephan de Bruijn, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
