The TG is described as a gunnery trainer. Five different prototypes, designated TG-1 through TG-5, were built. In the TG-5 the fuel tanks were moved to the central float. The uncropped photo shows the plane with a Loening OL-2 of the 1925 MacMillan Arctic Expedition, A6982 / NA-3. The date is not certain, but Boston Herald photographer Leslie Jones presumably came to photograph the arrival of NA-3 at NAS Squantum on 11 June 1925.
