This Orion was delivered to the US Navy as P-3C in August 1972 and was since operated by VP-45. It was overhauled to P-3C-IIIR mod, redelivered to VP-45 but later transferred to VP-30. It was then moved to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 1 in 2002, and redelivered to VP-30. In 2014, the Orion was modified to NP-3C and became a test laboratory with Scientific Development Squadron (VXS) 1 "Warlords" at Patuxent River.
