This Huey compiled a distinguished record in Vietnam from 1966 to 1970 during which it completed four combat tours. Numerous patches on its skin attest to the ferocity of missions flown while operating as a 'Smoke Ship', laying down smokescreens for air assault operations with the 11th Combat Aviation Battalion. The National Air and Space Museum acquired the aircraft in 1995 and it is now on display at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
