Due to a severe shortage of aircraft at the outbreak of WWI the G-III was pressed into service by the RFC. The British were much more impressed with the French 80hp Le Rhone engine than the aeroplane that contained it. Rapidly overtaken by advances in aircraft design the G-III was soon relegated to air-training duties. This particular example was built in France in 1916 but nothing is known about it's serial or service life. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
