This helicopter served from 1977 with the East German Navy as '834' (Volksmarine MHG 18 'Kurt Barthel' - this scrubbed out serial is still just visible) at Parow near Stralsund. After unification she was demilitarised and flew until 1994 in a SAR role with the Bundeswehr, whereafter she was retired and transferred to the Aeronauticum museum.
