VH-ANP was ordered for Eastern Air Lines but impressed as a C-49B while still on the production line and given the serial 41-7693. It served in Australia with the USAAF, RAAF and airline ANA using the callsign VHCDE. ANA purchased the aircraft in 1946 and converted it to DC-3 standard. At the time of the photo it was still in use but was withdrawn in June. Two years later it was scrapped at the airport after authorities refused to allow its removal. This was done to protect the prevailing Two-Airline Policy which rigorously controlled competition.
