Florennes AB was initially constructed by the Germans as part of a defensive line of night fighter airfields to counter RAF night bomber raids. After WWII it was taken over by the Belgian AF and the first type based there was Spitfires. The very interesting, informative and friendly Musée Spitfire charts and preserves the history of the base. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
