Delivered to the USAF in Apr'81, and directly assigned to the 36th Tactical Fighter Wing at Bitburg AB (Germany). It flew with the tigers of the 53rd TFS and the aircraft became faous on 19 January 1991 when it shot down shot down an Iraqi Mirage F1EQ with an AIM-7 Sparrow during the Gulf War. After its USAFE career, the Eagles was transferred to the 33rd FW at Eglin AFB (FL), followed by an Air National Guard assignment with the 123rd FS at Portland (OR).
