Delivered to the US Navy in 1978, damaged on 18 November 1981 during deck operations on the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) in the Mediterranean Sea but repaired afterwards. The Intrufder became an instructional aircraft (fire and rescue trainer) at El Centro (CA) in February 1995 and was last reported in late 2019. On the picture it is seen with Attack Squadron (VA) 42 "Green Pawns" (from 1992 the nickname changed into "Thunderbolts"). The A-6 Intruder Fleet Replacement Squadron was disestablished on 30 September 1994.
