Newer Mi-17V-5s bear the Serbian designation HT-49. This is one of two HT-48s reportedly acquired in 1997-98 for special operations in Kosovo. This helicopter crashed in thick fog near Belgrade airport on a medical evacuation flight on 13 March 2015. All seven occupants lost their lives, including a baby who had been taken over from an ambulance car stuck in snow near the Kopaonik ski resort.
