Originally delivered in 1997, but a brand new aircraft for Varig, acquired from Swissair (ex HB-IWO) only one month before this photo was taken. Its career with Varig was short, because the airline ceased operations only two years later. This MD-11 went to UPS in 2007 as N288UP, and was converted to a freighter.
