Two of the earliest S-51s were acquired by the French navy in 1951 and 1952, receiving serials AR.1 (c/n 5102) and AR.2 (c/n 5106). AR.1 was damaged in Djibouti on 7 September 1951 while presumably on its way to Indochina with the aircraft carrier Arromanches. AR.2 did make it to Indochina later. Both helicopters withdrawn from use at Saint-Raphaël, France in March 1955. This photo was added on 22 March 2023, and has since been viewed 380 times. |
