The one and only Sopwith Wallaby was built to win the prize for the first UK-Australia flight. It departed in October 1919 and made slow progress before crashing on Bali in April 1920. G-EAKS was shipped on to Australia and later registered G-AUDU. Accurate details of the landing ground at Bandar Abbas in 1920 are not known. It is said to have been 1.6 km NE of the city, and that is where we have placed our Map marker. Photo from: State Library of South Australia
