USAAF photo of a rare type, the first of only four XC-108 conversions. Originally delivered as a B-17E in Feb 1942, it was converted into the XC-108 VIP transport in 1943, to serve as General Douglas MacArthur's personal aircraft, named "Bataan". Armament and armor was removed, and it was fitted with a B-17F plexiglas nose with a single machine gun with a chrome barrel. The cabin was fitted with seats, tables, cooking facilities and extra windows for use as a flying living and office space. In Oct 1945 the aircraft was stored for disposal at Walnut Ridge, AR and sold for scrap in Sep 1946. This photo was added on 13 April 2023, and has since been viewed 252 times.
