End of February '85 Samoa Air (American Samoa) started service between Pago Pago and Honolulu twice a week. The Boeing was acquired from Aero Filipinas and she was refurbished to carry 143 economy and 16 first class passengers. Having to compete with Hawaiian and South Pacific International this venture only lasted till October of the same year, when the plane was sold to Jetran LLC - besides of the competition, hush kits were to be installed with a cost of 2.2 million US$ which didn't seem to be an option.
