Spitfire P9306 and behind, another WWII veteran Stuka, A5-HL one of only two complete Stukas in the world. P9306 was the 508th Spitfire built and first flew 19 January 1940. Assigned to 74 Sqd, Hornchurch on 6th July 1940, it moved to a number of airfields and flew throughout the Battle of Britian. With five enemy aircraft claimed destroyed, by October 1941 it was transferred to training duties and withdrawn from active service in January 1944. Shipped to Chicago in October 1944. Stuka JU-87R-2, A5-HL was found abandoned in Libya in 1941 and at some stage sent to the US. Restored in 1974.
