During a training flight in Feb. 1970 this aircraft was involved in a miraculous incident after entering an uncontrollable spin that forced the pilot to eject. Unpiloted, the aircraft recovered on its own, apparently due to the balance and configuration changes caused by the ejection, and miraculously made a gentle belly landing in a snow-covered field. After minor repairs, the aircraft was returned to service and last served with the 49 FIS before being retired to the museum in 1996. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
