Taxiing for take-off in late afternoon light, Pony 9 wears on the fin the special insigna of the historical 87th Squadriglia "La Serenissima". This is one of the four insigna that are part of the Italian Air Force badge. Gabriele D'Annunzio made the famous flight on Vienna with the Ansaldo S.V.A.s of this Squadriglia on 9th August 1918.
